Xinru Qian MD (China)
Dr. Xinru Qian graduated from Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine in 1982 specializing in Chinese medicine. She obtained her MS degree from Shanghai First Medical Hospital in 1988 in the area of tongue inspection and disease. She practiced and taught in Chinese medicine a few years before coming to the States in early 1990s. In America, Dr. Qian has had a rich experience in the field of medicine including training and practicing as a nurse, medical intern, resident, fellow, and last, a physician. Her training and interests also cover both Chinese and conventional Western medicine. Dr. Qian has been a board certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) specialist and a New York State certified physician acupuncturist since 2000. She also teaches medical acupuncture at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Dr. Xinru Qian specializes in neuromuscular disease and neurorehabilitation using acupuncture in conjunction with conventional approach. Her lecture will concentrate on differential diagnosis and integrative management methods including acupuncture for common knee problems. The course will start from reviewing detailed knee anatomy, followed by exploring efficient physical assessment methods to differentiate the diseases. Then the literature of highlight conventional knee management principles will briefly reviewed, and the acupuncture and other Traditional Chinese Medical treatment methods will be introduced and emphasized. The goal of her course is to enable acupuncturists and other health care providers to expand and update the knowledge and treatment options for common knee diseases.
